What is Queer Spirit Camp?

A detailed description can be found within the name itself:
-Queer

The term “Queer” is used as an all inclusive term to invite persons of all identities, regardless of their place in hetero-normative culture. The word, in its reclaimed form, shows an acknowledgement and celebration of our unique differences. This observation and celebration is central to QSC.
-Spirit

In accordance with the principles of Easton Mountain, QSC is a very spiritual event. The open, accepting atmosphere encompasses religious and spiritual beliefs as well. Participants are encouraged to consider more than their physical surroundings. Meditation, relaxation, and reflection exercises give participants the opportunity to get in touch with themselves and achieve harmony with the universe. This is something that many take with them, to assist in their “outside lives.”
-Camp

QSC isn’t your average summer camp. Participants stay a full week at Easton Mountain. Through peer led workshops and discussions, the campers grow and gain insight into themselves. At the end, participants leave with friends, life skills, meaningful personal growth.

What Does QSC Cost?

One of the most difficult parts of planning such a large event is acquiring appropriate funding. This year we're expecting about 60 participants, but, because a lot of them are inner city kids, (and the ones who aren't from the inner city are mostly college kids) we try and make the cost of attendance as low as possible. We try to fund-raise almost the entire cost ($50k). The $50,000 breaks down to about $900 a participant, and covers the cost of food, lodging, utilities, program materials, and all other expenses. Every contribution is greatly appreciated and helps bring us closer to our fundraising goal and thus, an truly amazing program.
